The pre-symposium luncheon was a wonderful time to interact and re-connect with so many of Lara’s friends, colleagues and professors. I am always in awe that Lara left such an impact on the W&L School of Law and that they continue to honor her in so many ways. Prof. Beth Belmont gave a heartfelt tribute to Lara for which there were not many dry eyes in the room.I am always inspired by the words used to describe our daughter and it makes me want to be more like her in every way.
Being able to spend some time with several of Lara’s “bestest” law school friends Casey Coleman and Anna and Patrick Boling was a big highlight for Jay and I. I always thought that Lara had such a way of choosing just the right people to be a part of her life and it is always re-affirmed when spending time with her friends. Folks, we have no need to fear our future with these young people in charge!
Judge Rebecca Connelly ~ what can one say about such a beautiful person inside and out? I can see why she and Lara bonded during the time that Lara was her extern. Lara always told me she wanted “be” Judge Connelly! It was her goal to be the best in her profession yet have a family and a life outside of work. Rebecca Connelly exemplifies what Lara aspired to be. It is why Lara knew it was possible to “have it all”! Thank you Rebecca for the wonderful dinner that you, your husband Bill and daughter Caroline hosted for us. Having the chance to hear and tell Lara Stories helps Jay and I get through another day, and when it is done with such good friends, nothing could be better.
We cannot thank the WLSO for hosting such an engaging event in honor of Lara. The LiveLikeLara Foundation cannot wait to be a part of next year’s event. Pictures coming soon!
